Monday, June 2, 2008....We have came a long way since my last update. Mom came out of ICU on Thursday, May 29th and was moved to a regular room. They monitored her for two days and has been downgraded with her injuries so they moved her yet again to the rehab center on Saturday, May 31, 2008. They removed her left chest tube on Friday and are hoping to remove the right chest tube today. They had to put in chest tubes due to her collapsed lungs. She is starting to get around and she keeps impressing her family and her doctors. But I’m sure if you’ve ever had the privilege of knowing our mom you would know she is a fighter. If you could have seen her when she came to the hospital almost two weeks now, you would swear that this person today isn’t the same one. We are very lucky, and blessed beyond words can say. Thanks for your continued prayers. We still have a long road ahead.
Wednesday, May 28, 2008...Well it’s been 24 hrs since our mom has been taken off the ventilator. She is still in ICU and in stable condition, she is starting to wake up and is able to communicate with us. A very good day for my brother Terry Kallsen, you see today is his birthday. I can’t think of a better birthday present then to have our mom wake up and be able to say hi. They are wanting to leave her in ICU for a couple of more days and then the next biggest battle begins - THERAPY.
Saturday, May 24, 2008....We were wanting to take the opportunity to let everyone know through our website that Gloria Kallsen (our Mom) has been involved in a serious accident at the ranch. She was flown Flight-For-Life to Banner Health-Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO. She is currently in stable conditions with a broken back (shattered T-7 vertebrae) that has been repaired, two collapsed lungs, two hairline fractures in her neck that will heal with a neck brace, a broken wrist, and a fractured ankle. They have her sedated and on a ventilator. They are hoping to take her off the ventilator on Monday, May 26, 2008.
