Tuesday, December 30, 2008...We are continuing to get through the days as best as we can. Our family had a wonderful Christmas this year. We opted not to have the traditional dinner menu for two reasons, getting kind-of tired of the same old thing and because it seems to be so much work for our mom. She had a wonderful day with all her kids/grandkids.....Mom is still the same regarding her breathing, but they have lifted the backbrace rule. She doesn’t need to wear it anymore unless she feels she needs to. Mom’s biggest struggle is her breathing. She still tires easily. But I’m still impressed, every time we go to visit mom she looks better and her voice seems to be improving. I do have to remind her that she just came out of a very traumatic event and that it is just going to take time to heal. All-in-all she is doing just fine considering.
Tuesday, September 16, 2008...Newest update on mom. She continues to improve every day. The rehabilitation is a very slow process. All of her broken bones are healing nicely. She just had another x-ray taken on her broken back and we are now waiting to hear word from her Neuro Surgeon. At our last visit he said that mom would have to wear her back brace for 2 more months. 2 months expired today, keep your fingers crossed. Mom continues to impress her family at how well she is doing. She looks great!! But still struggles with catching her breath throughout the day. This is due to the collapsed lungs, emphysema and broken ribs. The lung specialists says that it is just going to take time. Mom is such a go-getter that she wishes to be healed today. I’m sure we all would have this same reaction if it was us in her shoes.
Our family had a Benefit Bullriding event for mom on Saturday, 9/13/08. We were able to raise some money but it still isn’t enough to get it all paid. We still have numerous hospital bills coming in.
